Anthelmintic usage on the performance of the Agouti (Dasyprocta leporina) reared intensively in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies

Abstract Anthelmintic drugs have been used strategically in livestock reared the tropics. These treatment of endoparasitism which resulted an increase animals’ performance. The agouti (Dasyprocta leporina) is a neo-tropical rodent with potential for domestication and has farmed intensively Trinidad. However, objective this research was to investigate effect anthelmintic use growth performance agouti. In searching literature, it found that type study on not done. experiment fourteen weaned agoutis weighing 1kg were divided into two groups randomly. first group (T1) given any but second (T2) treated Endovet Ces® subcutaneously every three months. There no significant differences (p > 0.05) between carcass weight, weight gain, dressing percentage (hot cold), heart, lungs, skin, head feet. difference < seen liver pluck. To authors knowledge time parameters presented literature. live animals at end ranged from 2.4 kg 2.6 had 57% 55%. results are suggestive gain percentage.
